The Witney Buttercross Scout Group is continually fundraising to support the activities and facilities of the current scout group, and is also fundraising for the Stable Barn project.
The scout group is an entirely voluntary organisation – we have no paid administrators, organisers or leaders. Only some of the costs of maintaining our scout hut and running activities are covered by the subs paid by the young people, meaning that the group is reliant on donations and money raised by specific events run by the group, and particularly by the leaders.
The Stable Barn project is estimated to cost £500,000. To date we have raised £60,000. The majority of the funds are expected to come from grants and it takes time to identify the grant giving body, obtain, complete, submit and follow up the application. We need help with this task and if you are interested in assisting please contact email@example.com, or on 01993 704554.

Can you help the Scout Group via easyfundraising?
If you do your online shopping through www.easyfundraising.org.uk you can raise monies for the Group at no cost to yourself. This is because the retailers will give a donation to easyfundraising for any customers who shop via their website who will then pass on the donation to the customer’s nominated charity. Obviously we hope you will nominate Witney Buttercross Scout Group but they can split your donations with another charity of your choice. There is an extensive list of retailers including travel companies that you can shop with and for example, Amazon’s typical donation is 2.5%. UK taxpayers can Gift Aid their donations and make them worth more. Please visit their website for more details of the benefits on offer and to register.
Another way you can raise monies for the Group at no cost yourself is to make www.everyclick.com, your search engine instead of say Google. All one has to do is register with www.everyclick.com, nominate the Group as the charity you wish to support and then make it your homepage. Every time you use it as your search engine, internet advertisers/websites pay the search engine and the Group receives a share of the income generated.
Alternatively, if you would simply like to make a donation, either personal or company, please let David know!
We have four rag bins in Witney – outside the Scout Hut, in Sainsbury’s car park, and in B&Q’s car park. You can put all clothing, paired shoes, handbags, bags, ties, belts, household linen and towels. Please ensure all items are in tied up bags.
Adult members of the scout group regularly empty these bins, and all items are collected for recycling. In return the group receives payment by weight. This scheme provides a steady income for the group.
