Welcome to Witney Buttercross Scout Group, one of the largest Scout Groups in Oxfordshire and members of the Scout Association. For more information about Scouting visit scouts.org.uk The Group is based in Marlborough Lane, Witney and our HQ is a former chapel that was purchased by the Group in 1961.

The current Group was formed in 1970. Since then it has grown considerably from one Cub Pack & Scout Troop to 3 Beaver Colonies, 3 Cub Packs and 3 Scout Troops & 1 Explorer Unit. Our leaders provide a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities to help young people develop their full potential. Links to each section can be found on this page. Our Thursday Scout Troop meets in Tower Hill School as we do not have the capacity in the existing HQ. The building has been renovated but has remained essentially the same size. It is in use most weekday mornings & every weekday evening, often with 2 section meetings running one after the other.

In December 2009 after a massive short term fund raising effort, the Group purchased the Stable Barn opposite our HQ for £110,000. This allows us to move on to the second stage of this ambitious project. For further details see the Stable Barn pagehttp://www.scouts.org.ukStable_Barn.htmlshapeimage_29_link_0shapeimage_29_link_1

Easyfundraising – With Christmas approaching here is a way you can raise monies for the Scout Group when you shop online at no cost to yourself. You can shop via www.easyfundraising.org.uk with over 2000 retailers and when you buy online, the retailer will make a donation to your nominated charity. Hopefully you will nominate Witney Buttercross Scout Group and the goods will not cost you any more than if you bought direct. For example Amazon will donate 2.5% of the cost of your transaction.
To find out more and to register, please visit www.easyfundraising.org.uk. On this site there are from time to time discount codes from some retailers which can save you money.
Currently our supporters are raising over a £100 per annum and it is gradually increasing.
OCVA (Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action) – The Scout Group joined this organisation earlier this year as their mission is to help the community and voluntary sector thrive in Oxfordshire. We needed their help in helping us raise monies for our Stable Barn project. At the OCVA’s annual awards on 14 October, Andrew Stokes, our Group Scout Leader, was honoured by receiving an award for being one of Oxfordshire’s volunteers of the year. This is in recognition for all the time, leadership and hard work Andrew puts in to ensure Witney Buttercross Scout Group runs as it should do successfully to provide Scouting for everyone involved in the Group. Well done Andrew! http://www.easyfundraising.org.ukhttp://www.easyfundraising.org.ukshapeimage_44_link_0shapeimage_44_link_1
